ANTLERS ATE IT HARD ON THE POTHOLE ON 9TH ST.
so. this morning i was riding my bike down the bike lane on 9th st approaching 5th ave. i caught a glare and couldn't see the pothole in the bike lane. so upon smashing into it i went right over the handlebars, banged my helmet-clad forehead on the pavement, and slid on my chest and elbows. the bike had slightly worse luck, as the stem got knocked right out of the headset's grip and was sliding all around loose in there. both my brake levers bent under, my chain fell off and my front wheel got knocked out of true.
so!
i reported it to the department of public transportation, which you can do by calling 311, and they say it will be fixed in 60-90 days. It's work order #DM2005270016, reported at 4:52pm 9/27/05.
and! you can report it to transalt as well. transalt.org
yeah.

omg!
my sixth grade math teacher's son DIED in a similar bike accident, but he wasn't wearing a helmet and landed on his forehead.
you are so lucky!
btw -- i found your blog randomly and enjoy reading it. the pictures are also quite enjoyable.
Hey There,
That really sucks. I usually use the 9th street bike path along that way to get to work. I'll look out for that for the next 60-90 days. Hope you get better first. Got doored last week and the woman refused to say she was sorry. Sometimes the city feels out to getcha. Transalt is good people though, they got the bumps off the Billyburg Bridge. My friend Josh got into an accident on the last bump and he'll have a Harry Potter looking scar on his forhead forever. How bout them helmets.
