STAR ART II

I got this from Baird Jones. His new show Star Art II is opening up this week: No need to RSVP, the exhibit is on the second floor in the Project Room, just mention the show at the door for complimentary admission, refreshments will be served. In Star Art I, the paintings by Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, and Federico Fellini were done as gifts for the United Nations. In Star Art II, the United Nations commissioned the artworks by Tony Bennett, Jacques Cousteau, Zero Mostel, and Anthony Quinn, In Star Art I musicians such as Bob Dylan, David Byrne, Richie Havens, Dee Dee Ramone, and Donna Summer were represented with artwork. Similarly in Star Art II, viewers can see artwork by famous musicians such as Tony Bennett, Miles Davis, David Bowie, Xavier Cugat, John Lennon, Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones, Micky Dolenz of the Monkees, and Randy Jones of the Village People. Timed to coincide with “Batman Begins,” a whole cast of legendary Batman figures are present in Star Art II. Adam West (Batman), Vincent Price (Egghead), Art Carney (The Archer), Eli Wallace (Mr. Freeze), Ceasar Romero (The Joker), Julie Newmar and Lee Meriwether (both starred as Catwoman, Meriwether replacing Newmar on the Batman show in 1966), and Robert Englund who spoke the Riddler part in the animated Batman TV series have artworks in Star Art II although he is perhaps better known in his Freddy Kruger role from the Friday the 13th series of horror films.
