DRILLIN' FOR GOLD IN MY MOUTH WITH NO ANAESTHETIC.

(pic of free blood) Yeah so yesterday I got my mouth drilled on the top and bottom molars and I got ceramic fillings. On the upper teeth I had to get a shot--a freaking needle in the gums---and on the lower teeth they did that shit with no anaesthetic. holy shit. it was way deep. i have to go back for 2 more fillings today. so to feel better after this smell-of-burning-drilled-tooth-jaw-open-for-an-hour-straight business i ride down through insane traffic from the upper east side to the east village where the very nice kids at trackstar gave my bike some serious love. little did i know, but it's a full service bike shop even if you don't ride a fixed. after brad described my brake situation as a death trap, i've decided to take the plunge and put on straight handlebars. plus, they replaced a brake cable and a nut on my brakes. god i love it when bike shops tinker with your bike and do everything nice they can think of. it's like taking your bike to the spa or something.

THRASH AND BURN WEEKEND

goddamn. japanther was so awesome. SO awesome. Spent nine and a half hours in a parking lot in LIC at the todd p show. Thanks for putting it together todd p! it was a behemoth effort. Japanther, Matt & Kim, Parts & Labor, Big A Little a, Afrirampo, Free Blood (with members of !!!) and all the other rad bands who played were totally fantastic. The show was so long and intense that I took all sunday to recover. One highlight of the show was watching the incredible hulking black label bicycle club do security. they totally regulated on the fuckers who were crushing japanther and running all over their little stage during their set. good show.

japanther was really really really awesome. i think they're becoming like my favorite band.

Big A little a.

afrirampo killed it so hard.

VICE 2005 PHOTO ISSUE PARTY LAST NIGHT.

the lovely and awesomest i miss her so much girl, aurel. So last night's photo party was cool. Those kinds of ginormous everyone-you-know-is-gonna-be-there parties are always really fun if only for the free booze and reunion factor. Sightings included all the nice kids below, dave from chromeo who missed the damn thing, j. deitch and gideon yago. The nice girl above is especially nice to bump into, as we spent every waking minute working on the swoon show (especially her) and then it just ended. weird how that works. it's like workworkwork and then poof it's over. on to the next huge undertaking.
sucka in the flesh.

this doesn't quite capture it, but the girl was like shaking her shit all over that fan. it was a little too hot for me.

TOM. YOU REALLY FUCKED UP THIS ONE.

Tom, the sellout developer of Myspace has sold it to NewsCorp who owns Fox and is hands down awful. Thanks for selling our personal info, dude. gawker's on the case too. thanks for the tip, fauxtographer

I SURE WILL MISS YOU.

So. A little sadness in antlerland. Last night my fish died. His name was Cogi. It was this little feeder fish someone had rescued from a lab at my college and then orphaned at my suite door at the beginning of my senior year. I took care of him ever since. In other news of missing stuff, I miss muffin. In less somber news, I joined a gym yesterday and I'm SO psyched about it. It's funny to be all amped about going to the gym. I never though I'd be like that. Tonight's the 2005 Vice Photo Issue party. Will be a blast. And "Speak Out: I Had an Abortion" screens tomorrow at the Tribeca Film Center. Come on down if you haven't seen it yet. Then there's a Saturday show with Japanther & other rad bands.

THURSDAY SHOW AT CAKESHOP

Says Chouette Shop Amanda: Tomorrow's Friend is performing on Thursday with: Blood on the Wall More Dogs and Mirrors at the Cakeshop on Ludlow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xo-a

SUPREME COURT NOMINEE EMERGENCY-BUSH NOMINATES ROBERTS

Bush announces Supreme Court nominee Dear Friend, In a devastating move, George W. Bush has nominated John Roberts to replace Justice O'Connor's swing vote on the U.S. Supreme Court. By nominating John Roberts, George Bush has issued a slap in the face to every American who values personal privacy and a woman's right to choose. We need your help NOW. Please click here to make an emergency contribution to help us oppose his nomination. With Bush in the White House and Congress in the grip of anti-choice leadership -- a woman's right to choose cannot afford to have John Roberts on the Supreme Court. The worst news, John Roberts has actually argued before the Supreme Court that Roe v. Wade should be overruled. As a person who values privacy and personal freedom -- we need you with us at this moment to ensure a woman's right to choose is protected. Click here. I know NARAL Pro-Choice America has asked you for your financial support several times in the last few weeks, and the entire staff at NARAL Pro-Choice America thanks you for your generous support of our work. But the simple truth is anti-choice hardliners are pouring millions of dollars into this fight to pressure Senators to confirm a nominee hostile to Roe. That's why I must ask you once again to support our strategic Choose Justice plan with a gift today. In the next few weeks, our work could determine whether the Supreme Court continues to recognize Roe v. Wade as a constitutional right or whether it swings to the right as payback to Bush's anti-choice base. We have never, in the thirty-two years since Roe v. Wade first ensured a woman's right to choose, faced the possibility of such immediate and monumental change on the Supreme Court. We must educate and mobilize pro-choice Americans to vigorously oppose John Roberts' nomination to the Supreme Court. Right now, the radical right is pouring millions of dollars into an effort to force anti-choice Supreme Court nominees through the confirmation process in the Senate. But we will not let them. We may not have the White House in our pocket like the radical right does. But we are America's pro-choice majority. If all pro-choice Americans stand together, I have no doubt that we can succeed in demanding the U.S. Senate protect this freedom from a stacked court. Please stand with us right now. We will need your help every step of the way. But we must seize this opportunity to let our Senators know that we will not simply stand by and accept a right-wing takeover of the Supreme Court. Too much is at stake -- the lives of countless ordinary Americans will be affected by the outcome. Please click here to take action -- and to take your place in history. Thank you -- I know that together we will prevail. Sincerely, Nancy Keenan, President NARAL Pro-Choice America

Then take the next step...

Forward this message. Tell your friends to sign up with NARAL Pro-Choice America.

WHAT IT MEANS:

The confirmation of an anti-choice justice to the Supreme Court could mean the end of Roe v. Wade, which protects a woman’s most basic right to privacy, the right to choose.
